The Greek Super League 2 comprises 24 teams in two groups. It serves as a feeder league to the top-tier Super League and runs from September to May.
The league was founded in 2019, after the restructuring of the Greek football league championships, replacing the Football League (former Beta Ethniki) as the second level in the league pyramid.
The league’s first two seasons featured 12 clubs. But in the 2021-2022 season, it restructured, becoming a two-group league with 34 clubs after abolishing the third-tier Football League.
Moving on to the fifth season (2023-2024), the league once again saw a transformation. It shifted to a two-group league configuration but with a smaller contingent of twenty-four (24) clubs.
